I don't know the reason why, but I lost my hair in July 2009 and became bald. Thanks to the training in Okinawan Goju-Ryu, my hair is recovering day by day. The color of my hair has changed into white from black. What a strange!

Tai Chi workshop

On 21st October 2009, at last I met with Sifu Wayne Gorsky from the United States. He is the Tai Chi expert and the black belt holder of Aikido. He held a workshop at our school. He taught us various applications of Tai Chi and a form of Yang style Tai Chi. It was an excellent lesson. All the participants (about 30 members) enjoyed his workshop. I was fortunate enough to assist his workshop. What a wonderful event! The photo of Sifu Wayne Gorsky in a white Chinese jacket and Yamada in a black jacket, courtesy of Mr. Mori.

Koya Kaido Matsuri

Today we had a festival in Nagano Shrine in Osaka. It is called Koya Kaido Matsuri. It means the festival of the ancient route to Koyasan which is the sacred temple established by Kukai. In the shrine, we danced Eisaa, the popular Okinawan “Bon” dance. Following the dance, I performed the Kata of Bo (= a fighting staff) and Sai of Ryukyu Kobudo. The photo of myself in Eisaa costume.

Our Enliglish Teacher

Since April this year I have been studying English at school once a week. Today I have found that our English teacher, a Japanese female, has an American cousin who is an expert in Tai Chi (= Taijiquan) and Aikido. She said she would take him to our school next month for teaching us English and maybe some self-defense technique. What a coincidence! I told her of this website and that I was also interested in Tai Chi. In fact almost every morning before going to school, I practice Tai Chi Chuan and, of course, Goju-ryu Karate in the park near our school. We have the common hobby. I am really looking forward to meeting with him.

Kururunfa

クルルンファー Kururunfa
A video clip of Kata "Kururunfa" performed by San Zinsoo. Many people think Tai Chi (= taijiquan) exercise is beneficial for health promotion. I think Kata of Gojuryu is also useful for the same purpose, if we practice it correctly in a relaxed way. In that way, we can enjoy practicing karate even if we get older. I am now 55 years old.
