Cross Feet Stance of Sepai

When we perform Sepai Kata, at the nealy last part of it, we stand at "cross feet" stance then step backwards pulling both hands. It is one of the different points from the so-called Shitei Kata or the compulsory Kata.

Practice karate in the park

Every Sunday morning I go to the nearby park in Osaka by bicycle. I practice karate and kobudo there with my friend who is 66 years old for about 90 minutes. The main purpose of our practice is for fitness in mind and body.

Sepai

セーパイ 十八
Today is a good Sunday for "Hanami" which literally means seeing Sakura or cherry blossoms. They are in full bloom. This time I performed Kata "Sepai" in front of Sakura. Sepai means eighteen. Maybe this name derives from famous Shaolin kungfu, Shih-pa Lohan Shou or Eighteen Lohan Hands. I have no idea whether this kata has something to do with the Shaolin kungfu or not.
